Welcome! I'm Christian Carr, known in the performance world as The Clumsy Acrobat. With a passion for bringing joy and wonder through circus arts, I specialize in aerial straps, fire performances, juggling, and unicycling. My journey has taken me from intimate gatherings to grand stages, always aiming to captivate and inspire audiences.

The Clumsy Acrobat

I'm a classically trained circus artist known for blending high-level technique with character work, physical storytelling, and a mix of intensity and humor.

My specialties include aerial straps, fire performance, acrobatics, juggling, unicycling, and clowning.

​Born and raised in Austin Texas I discovered a love for circus gradually. I learned to unicycle at age 12 and juggling shortly after, but I began my formal circus education at The Actors Gymnasium in Chicago in 2021 during covid. After completing their year-long Professional Circus Training Program. I later went on to study aerial straps at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London, a leading institution for contemporary circus training. These foundations have shaped both my technical discipline and my commitment to creating innovative, emotionally resonant work.

A Signature Style

My performance style thrives on contrast. Combining power and precision with vulnerability and mischief. I create acts that challenge genre boundaries, incorporating elements of circus, clown, immersive theater, and even neo-burlesque. Whether I'm performing in the air or on the ground, my goal is to create a world and invite you into it.

Beyond Performance

Outside of the performance, I’m a coach and multidisciplinary artist. I teach aerial straps and flow arts both in-person and online, and I’ve led workshops at major international gatherings including the European Juggling Convention, SouthWest Flow Festival, FlowStorm, and many others.

 

I’m also a vendor, with a circus/fire prop shop and crystal booth (DisasterClownIndustries.com) that I bring to markets and events around the U.S.

At Burning Man, I help manage The Luminists which is a fire- breathing stilt-walking fire performance troupe that is tasked with bringing the sacred fire to the man himself.

I also collaborate with The Wastelanders camp to produce immersive circus shows that weave together dystopian themes, satire, and high-skill variety acts.
