About Me
The Full Story
Welcome! I'm Christian Carr, known in the performance world as The Clumsy Acrobat. With a passion for bringing joy and wonder through circus arts, I specialize in aerial straps, fire performances, juggling, and unicycling. My journey has taken me from intimate gatherings to grand stages, always aiming to captivate and inspire audiences.
About Christian Carr — The Clumsy Acrobat
I'm Christian Carr, professionally known as The Clumsy Acrobat — a classically trained circus artist known for blending high-level technique with bold character work, physical storytelling, and a signature mix of intensity and humor. My specialties include aerial straps, fire performance, juggling, unicycling, and clown-based physical theatre.
I began my formal circus education at The Actors Gymnasium in Chicago, completing their year-long Professional Circus Training Program. I later went on to study aerial straps at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London, one of the world’s leading institutions for contemporary circus training. These foundations have shaped both my technical discipline and my commitment to creating innovative, emotionally resonant work.
A Signature Style
My performance style thrives on contrast — combining power and precision with vulnerability and mischief. I create acts that challenge genre boundaries, incorporating elements of circus, clown, immersive theater, and even neo-burlesque. Whether I'm performing on aerial apparatus, spinning fire, or delivering physical comedy, my aim is to engage audiences on both a visceral and theatrical level.
Beyond Performance
Outside of the ring, I’m a dedicated coach and multidisciplinary artist. I teach aerial straps and flow arts both in-person and online, and I’ve led workshops at major international gatherings including the British Juggling Convention, European Juggling Convention, and Play Festival. I’m also a street performer, festival artist, and vendor — running a crystal booth at markets and events around the U.S.
At Burning Man, I collaborate with The Wastelanders camp to produce immersive circus shows that weave together dystopian themes, satire, and high-skill variety acts. I also design and build creative infrastructure projects like solar-powered charging stations and wearable battery packs, merging utility with interactive art.
Let’s Work Together
I am available for live performance, event bookings, teaching, collaborations, and creative development. If you're looking for a performer who combines elite circus training with originality, stage presence, and a fearless artistic voice — I’d love to connect.
